Covid case count surpasses 50 in OR district

Dec 14, 2020

With three new cases at Sippican School, Rochester Memorial and the Old Rochester Regional High School, the Old Rochester Regional School District has reached 51 cases of covid since its reopening on Sept. 16.

The cases were reported by the district in press releases on Dec. 14.

At the recommendations of the Marion, Mattapoisett and Rochester Boards of Health, all schools will operate as normal on Dec. 15.

The cases come as covid is on the rise in all three towns, according to state data.

Contact tracing for each of the cases is being conducted, and close contacts will be notified by their respective Boards of Health. Close contacts will be expected to quarantine and recommended for covid testing.

The positive individuals were last in their respective school buildings on Dec. 8 in the ORRHS and Sippican School cases, and Dec. 4 in the Rochester Memorial case.

The district didn’t say whether the positive persons are district students, faculty or staff.
