Crash leads to OUI arrest

Rochester Police responded to Walnut Plain Road to investigate an erratic operator at 7:03 p.m. on July 31. A witness reported that a vehicle left the road and struck a bush. After the collision, the vehicle drove away. Officers responding to the call and located a vehicle matching the description operating on Walnut Plain Road a damaged vehicle.

Police stopped the vehicle. According to police, the operator said that the collision occurred when he attempted to avoid a squirrel. After investigation, police arrested 23-year-old James P. Bolia of Hiller Road in Rochester for operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle and failure to stay in marked lanes. Bolia was later released on $40 bail and was scheduled to appear in Wareham District Court Thursday morning.
