Cub Scouts zoom into the Pinewood Derby

Mar 9, 2019

MATTAPOISETT — Cheers, smiles and speeds of up to 140 miles per hour were all on display Saturday at the Pinwood Derby held by the Mattapoisett Cub Scout Pack 53.

The scouts who entered the annual event were required to build their own cars and race them down a track. The event, held at the Mattapoisett Congregational Church, is a favorite among the scouts.

This wasn’t all about speed, however, as prizes were also given in the areas of most creative design and the car that displayed the best scouting theme. Each participant was also awarded their Pinewood Derby patch to be displayed proudly on their uniforms.
