Cumberland Farms raises $2,633 for Sippican School
Buying a beverage from the Cumberland Farms in Marion has gone a long way for the students at the Sippican School.
Throughout September, the newly renovated convenience store at the corner of Route 105 and Route 6 donated 20 cents from every beverage purchased to the local elementary school.
To date, the store has raised $2,633 for the students.
On Wednesday, Sippican School Principal Lyn Rivet told the Marion School Committee that the funds would be used for student needs.
"It will go into the principal account, which can be used for students who can't afford to go on a field trip, if there are some families who cannot afford to pay overcharges for lunch - whatever the need is," Rivet said.
Rivet said she was approached by representatives from Cumberland Farms back in August about partnering for the fundraiser.
Before it started, Rivet said she was hoping to raise $1,000. Having exceeded expectations, Rivet said she was "very pleased" with the fundraiser.
