Discover Rochester outdoors with kids during Family Friday Explorations

Jun 26, 2018

Plumb Library in Rochester and the Buzzards Bay Coalition will host Family Friday Explorations in July, a series of three free outings.

Through games and hands-on activities, families will learn about the Buzzards Bay region’s animals, plants, and habitats.

The programs, which cater to families with elementary school-aged children, run from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

On July 6, learn about frogs, toads, salamanders and more during the Amphibians program and then search for the creatures at Doggetts Brook Recreational Area, 55 Dexter Ln., Rochester.

On July 13, the program will explore the sounds found in nature during the "Water and Weather" program. The program will feature a search for river inhabitants among the remnants of the old sawmill at Church's Field, 81 Mattapoisett Rd., Rochester.

On July 20, the birds program will educate families about titmice, chickadees, and meadowlark. The program will take place at Shoolman Preserve, 204 New Bedford Rd., Rochester.
