Dr. Michael Moore visits Natural History Museum

Feb 5, 2016

Dr. Michael Moore of Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute recently visited the Marion Natural History Museum's after school group.

Moore introduced students to a little of Marion's whaling history, including the use of the museum's harpoon and baleen.

The students also had a chance to ask questions and theorize why Sippican Harbor had the first recorded visit from a humpback whale this fall.

The kids also enjoyed learning about "bubble-netting" and how drones are being used to observe whale behavior close up.
