An encore for the ages: Town Band to celebrate 125th anniversary

MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett Town Band will celebrate its 125th anniversary on Wednesday, July 30.
The band will receive recognition from Governor Maura Healey and Representative Mark Sylvia in honor of the anniversary. Additionally, the celebration which will feature some town band favorites and a John Philip Sousa march.
“We’ve ordered 125 cupcakes from Shipyard Galley so the band’s gonna have cupcakes. We’ll give all the kids cupcakes!” said Jayson Newell, Mattapoisett Town Band director.
The concert will begin at 7 p.m. at Shipyard Park.
