February events at the Mattapoisett Public Library

The Mattapoisett Free Public Library has a number of programs for adults in store this February.

On Saturday, Feb. 19, gardeners are invited to swap seeds and plant cuttings at 10 a.m. Attendees can also check out the seed lending library and library of things. Those without seeds or cuttings are also welcome to participate. No registration required.

Joy Marzolf of The Joys of Nature will be discuss “Native Plant Gardening for Wildlife” at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 27. The best way to attract birds, butterflies and other wildlife to one’s yard is through planting native plants. This program is supported by funds from the Richard and Ann J. Prouty Foundation, Bank of America, N.A., Co-Trustee. Registration is not required.

The Well-Read Wednesday non-fiction book discussion group will talk about “On Juneteenth” by Annettee Gordon-Reed at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 23. Copies of the book are available for check out at the circulation desk. 

The library will host a food tasting event featuring vegan meat alternatives at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26. Sample vegan meat alternatives and vote for a favorite.
