After a one-year hiatus, the fireworks blazed again above Silver Shell Beach for Independence Day.

Last year's fireworks display was canceled due to a lack of funds, but the money donated last year combined with further fundraising efforts brought the popular event back.

At least 1,000 people came to the beach to see the show, which began around 9:15 p.m. on Saturday night.
