Food truck proposed outside Tri-Town Barber Shop

MARION — A snack and a shave.

Food trucks may be coming to the Tri-Town Barber Shop on Route 6 in Marion this summer.

The Planning Board heard a preliminary proposal from Sean Lynch of the barber shop, who is looking to bring a food truck to the picnic area outside the building for “special occasions,” he said.

“I thought it would be a fun idea over the summer,” he said.

The Tri-Town Barber Shop building already has a space designated for a food truck, including a hookup for electricity.

Lynch said there’s “only one guy interested” in bringing his food truck to the site for some weekends over the summer.

The truck in question is a brick-oven pizza truck, but Lynch said its owner is interested in serving something “a little more creative” because the barber shop is near Santoro’s Pizza.

Planning Board member Eileen Marum wondered where dirty water from the truck would go, how long it’s been in business and how its food is prepared. Lynch didn’t have an answer.

But recently elected board member Jon Henry noted the Board of Health would deal with those questions.

Board of Health Chair Ed Hoffer, who sat in on the meeting, asked Lynch to touch base with Health Agent Anna Wimmer.

In order for the food truck to be approved, Lynch will have to submit a special permit request and the matter will be the subject of a public hearing.

“I think it’s a fun idea,” Planning Board Chair Will Saltonstall said, adding “while we have a number of great restaurants,” the town could use some “more opportunities.”
