MATTAPOISETT — The Mattapoisett Historical Society will open its doors free of charge to all Museum Day ticketholders on Saturday, Sept. 22, from 10-4 p.m. as part of Smithsonian magazine’s 14th annual Museum Day,
Museum Day, on which participating museums emulate the free admission policy at the Smithsonian Institution’s Washington DC-based museums, is designed to demonstrate a nationwide commitment to access, equity, and inclusion.
The Mattapoisett Historical Society’s current exhibit, “Mattapoisett’s Movers and Shakers: A Selection of Creative, Innovative, and Influential People,” highlights the impact Mattapoisett residents have made on a variety of industries.
Museum Day tickets are available for download at Smithsonian.com/MuseumDay. One ticket is permitted per email address. A list of participating museums, which will be continually updated as more museums register, can be found at Smithsonian.com/MuseumDay/Search.
