Gateway Cougars win back-to-back regional championships

Jul 23, 2018

For the second consecutive year, the Gateway Cougars, a team made up of baseball players from Wareham and the tri-town, are charter and regional champions.

Pitcher Mikey Parker, 14, of the Cougars pitched a one-hitter in the championship game against Fairhaven Babe Ruth. Curtis Briggi of Wareham was solid behind the plate and he threw out two runners when the game was close. Duncan Macgregor, Thomas Pelletier and Justin Childress came through with multiple hits that put the game out of reach for the repeat championship title. The last time a team won back-to-back regional championships was the 2011, 2012 Dennis/Yarmouth Babe Ruth.

Gateway Babe Ruth Regional League is one of the Largest and highly competitive Baseball Programs in Massachusetts.
