George Coady, 93
George W. Coady, 93, of Rochester, passed away July 13 in Wareham. Born in Cranston, R.I., he was the son of Matthew D. Coady and Bertha H. Coady and the brother of Bertha Coady of Charlestown, R.I., and Russell D. Coady of Cranston, R.I. Coady was a member of the United States Navy Reserve from October 1941 to October 1945 and attended Bryant College. He retired in 1976 from the executive department staff of New England Telephone.
He served as a test patient for the Jimmy Fund Skin Tumor Clinic from 1964 to 1984 and the Outpatient Headache Research Clinic of Faulkner Hospital from 1970 to 1995. A former resident of Canton, Mass., he was the devoted husband of Elizabeth Briggs Coady who predeceased him. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on July 18, 2007.
Coady was the father of Alison A. Coady of New London, N.H., Bradford B. Coady of Wayne, Maine, Jeffrey W. Coady of Mansfield, Mass. and Shelby C. Blunt of New London, N.H. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Private arrangements are with the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Road, Route 6, Mattapoisett.
