Grab a pair of solar viewing glasses for the eclipse at the Mattapoisett Library

Mar 29, 2024

MATTAPOISETT — Safely celebrate the approaching total solar eclipse with a pair of solar viewing glasses provided by the Friends of the Mattapoisett Library.

On Monday, April 8, the moon will glide between Earth and the sun, casting a shadow across parts of North America. But even briefly staring at the eclipse without eye protection can lead to serious, permanent vision damage.

Beginning Tuesday, April 2, staff at the Mattapoisett Free Public Library will give out free pairs of eclipse glasses, the perfect preventative accessory to wear for April 8.

Distribution is limited to one pair of glasses per family on a first-come, first-serve basis, while supplies last.
