Grant secures two automatic defibrillators
Apr 15, 2014
Police officers are generally known for making arrests, not preventing them. Thanks to a grant secured by Rochester Police Chief Paul Magee two new machines will help officers do just that.
Magee has secured a grant to help pay for two automated defibrillators. The machines help restart a person's heartbeat following a cardiac arrest.
The defibrillators cost $3,100 and the grant will fund half of that. They are an upgrade over the older, non-automated defibrillators already placed in police cruisers. Automated defibrillators are easier to use for untrained medical personnel and are now being placed in public places throughout the country. Rochester Town Hall has one inside the Selectmen's meeting room.
