Hazardous Household Waste Day

The Rochester Highway Department is hosting the Rochester and Mattapoisett Hazardous Household Waste Day on July 16, from 9 a.m. to noon at 200 Ryder Road in Rochester. This event is for Rochester and Mattapoisett residents only. Proof of residency will be required.

Please bring unwanted items in sealed containers, preferably in the original containers if possible. These items can include oil-based paints, stains, thinners, strippers, solvents, varnishes, adhesives, glues, resins, kerosene, gasoline, degreasers, brake fluid, transmission fluid, poisons, insecticides, weed killers, wood preservatives, artist supplies, photo chemicals, chemistry sets, cleaners, pool chemicals, aerosol cans, motor oil and mercury products. Unacceptable items include asbestos, smoke detectors, compressed gas cylinders, ammunition, fireworks, explosives, prescription medicines, syringes, commercial and industrial waste, radioactive waste, fire extinguishers, latex paint, tires, or PCBs.

Cost for a half-car load up to 10 pounds is $30, and $45 for a full car up to 25 pounds.
