MARION — Join the Tri-County Symphonic Band on Sunday, Oct. 22 at 3 p.m. at Tabor Academy’s Fireman Performing Arts Center for “Blue October.”

This show features new music written by Cape Cod composer Michael Donovan and a featured performance by pianist Susan Saposnik. 

According to the event’s website, “Saposnik will perform Donovan’s ‘Blue Rhapsody,’ a work that alludes to Gershwin with various samples of the blues throughout.”

“The concert concludes with a somber and serene bluesy statement evolving into a pressure cooker of ebullient screaming blues that is Frank Ticheli’s “Blue Shades,” according to the website.

Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Tickets can be purchased from the Symphony Music Shop in Dartmouth, the Marion General Store or online at tricountysymphonicband.org.
