Help shape Old Rochester's future at strategic planning meetings

Mar 19, 2018

The Old Rochester Regional School District's current five-year strategic plan is coming to an end, and it's now time to begin looking forward to 2023, and what the school district will look like then.

Residents and high school students are invited to attend one (or all) of three "envisioning" meetings, meant to create a plan for the future, analyze district performance data, and design an improvement strategy based on specific outcomes.

"In this process we will ask participants to engage in big picture thinking about how they want the school districts to be in the year 2023," said Assistant Superintendent Elise Frangos. "Once we have that positive vision from all of our meetings, we will backwards map the resources, budget and needs to ensure we get there."

The meetings will be held on March 20 at Old Hammondtown School, March 27 at Sippican School, and March 28 at Rochester Memorial School. All meetings will run from 6-7:30 p.m., and a "working dinner" will be served at 6 p.m.

During the meeting, all will view a film that the school district has produced, which documents the accomplishments of the last five-year strategic plan. After viewing the film, participants will begin envisioning future school district goals and outcomes.

The meeting will provide those who attend with a chance to reflect, discuss and be an integral part of the planning process, Frangos said.

Those interested should email dianarusso@oldrochester.org specifying which meeting they want to attend.
