High-flying dogs, storytimes, book sales at the Elizabeth Taber Library

Jul 6, 2021

MARION — The Elizabeth Taber Library has a number of events lined up for July, from high-flying pups, to outdoor storytimes, to book sales.

On July 17, The New Bedford Art Museum’s artMobile will visit the library from noon to 2 p.m., once again featuring art projects inspired by the Ruth E. Carter exhibit, “Uncommon Threads.” Explore fashion and costume design with the artMobile crew. This is a drop in event at the library for all ages.

Dogs will fly high on July 20, when Mike Piazza and his performing border collies visit the library for a high flying Frisbee spectacular. At 1 p.m., Piazza and his pups will put on a show for all ages. The event will be held outside at the library.

The library will hold an outdoor book sake on July 23 and 24 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. All purchased will directly benefit the library.

Outdoor storytimes with Children’s Librarian Ms. Heather start this month. Join the library every Friday at 10:30  a.m. in the reading circle. All ages welcome, and no sign up is required. Storytimes are weather permitting.

There’s still time to sign up for the summer reading program.  Sign up at the Elizabeth Taber Library to receive a Reading Buddy Kit, which comes with a reading log and a surprise mini zoo animal reading buddy.  Additionally, every hour you read equals a dollar donated to Heifer International with the help of Eastern Bank.  Heifer International donates animals that provide families all over the world with food and livelihood.

The Elizabeth Taber Library is conducting a community survey as part of its long-range strategic planning.  The library needs community input to help make decisions about future programs, services, and policies. Take the Elizabeth Taber Library Planning Survey online to be entered to win a $20 gift card.  Print surveys are available at the Library, Marion Council on Aging, and at the Marion Arts center.
