Hilda (Rapoza) Days, 86, of Mattapoisett died March 9 at St. Luke’s Hospital.

She was the wife of the late Edward W. Days, Jr.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Mariano and Francesca (Borges) Rapoza, she lived in Mattapoisett most of her life.

She was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Church.

The family would like to extend a personal thank you to the nurses and staff at Our Lady’s Haven, especially those on Unit 2A, for the excellent care that Hilda received and to thank the nurses at St. Luke’s Hospital and St. Luke’s Hospice.

She was the beloved mother of Edward “Chuck” Days, III, Mary Ellen Silva and her companion Steve Methia all of Mattapoisett, Susan Days-Cardoza of New Bedford and Anthony Days and his wife Meredith of Marion. She is also survived by her sister, Helen Couto of Mattapoisett; nine grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and Godchildren.

She was the sister of the late Antone Rapoza, Manuel Rapoza, John Rapoza, Mariano Rapoza, Olivia Martin, Georgiana Nobre and Mary Gomes.

Her funeral will be held on Friday at 9 a.m. from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home For Funerals, 50 County Road (Route 6) Mattapoisett, followed by her funeral Mass at St. Anthony’s Church at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Cushing Cemetery.
