Rain drove Center School's Flag Day celebration in for another year, but there was plenty of patriotism as the Florence Eastman American Legion and school community gathered in the gym for the annual ceremony.

In addition to the pledge of allegiance, lead by American Legion Commander Michael Lamoureux, each grade sang a song and some recited patriotic poems.

"How fortunate we are that you are the future of America," Principal Rose Bowman told the children.

Lamoureux also expressed his thanks to the school.

"I know flag days means a great deal to you," he said. "To us, it is incalculable. It can't be measured."
