It’s sNOw Problem: Tri-town pulls through weekend storm with no significant issues

Feb 11, 2025

Despite getting submerged in approximately 4 inches of snow and ice, the tri-town area was largely unaffected by emergency incidents on Saturday, Feb. 8 and Sunday, Feb. 9.

Mattapoisett Fire Department Chief Andrew Murray said the department did not receive any emergency calls related to the storm.

“It was largely uneventful,” said Murray.

The chief explained that the storm hit at the most ideal time for the station.

“The timing was good for us because it happened overnight, it wasn’t during commuting time and it was on the weekend and not when everyone’s trying to go to school and work in the morning,” said Murray. “Motor crashes were way down. This time it actually worked out well.”

The Rochester Police Department shared winter weather safety tips on their Facebook page ahead of the storm, encouraging citizens to stock up on essentials, drive carefully, keep an eye out for black ice, bundle up and stay updated on weather conditions.
