MATTAPOISETT — Every day has a night, but on Tuesday, April 11 Old Rochester Regional High School hosted a “Night of Jazz.”

Student musicians from the junior and senior high school choruses and jazz bands took to the stage and entertained audiences with tunes like “Hep Cat Blues,” “No Harm, no Fowl,” and “Buffalo Head.”

The high school’s acapella chorus sang “Crab Bucket,” with junior Eloise Casi carrying the tune with a vocal bass line.

Other soloists included senior Leo Grondin on the saxophone, seventh-grade student Calum Fredricks and senior Sakurako Huynh-Aoyama on trumpet.

The student groups were directed by Michael Barnicle, Rochard Laprise and Angie Vaugn.

The show was presented by the Friends of Old Rochester Music, a non-profit organization that supports music education in the Old Rochester Regional School District by supporting performance opportunities, purchasing equipment and instruments, and securing transportation to and from events.

The next Friends of Old Rochester Music concert will be held on May 20.
