Jon Henry says goodbye to Board of Selectmen
Tuesday night marked Jon Henry’s last meeting as Selectman.
A lifelong resident of Marion, Henry raised his five children in the town and runs the family business his grandfather started in 1895.
“It’s been a pleasure to serve the town for all these years,” Henry reflected, “putting Marion in a positive light is very important.”
With Henry leaving his post, Selectman Jody Dickerson noted that it could be the end of an all Marion natives on the board.
Reminiscing on his adjustment from military life to public service, Henry explained that it was all a learning process from colleagues through the years.
He said he never tired of his position as Selectman, but he decided 70 was the age he should step back.
“I love the Town of Marion,” said Henry, “I always have and always will.”
Henry may be leaving the Board of Selectmen, but he hopes to win one of two open seats on the Marion Planning Board in the May 13 election.
