Julia Catunto, 55
Julia M. (Henriques) Catunto, 55, of New Bedford died Nov. 18 at home after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was the wife of Mario J. Catunto. Born in New Bedford, the daughter of Julia (Mello) LaPlante of Mattapoisett and the late James Henriques, and the step-daughter of Merritt LaPlante, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
Catunto was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Fairhaven.
She was employed as an administrative assistant at AccuDynamics and previously was employed by AHead and Aerovox for 25 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, playing softball and watching sports.
Survivors include her husband; her mother and step-father; two sons, Chad Catunto and Ty Catunto, both of New Bedford; a daughter, Jamie Carroll and her husband Myles of New Bedford; four brothers, James Henriques and his wife Donna of Cape Coral, Fla., Antonio Henriques and David Henriques, both of New Bedford, and George Henriques and his wife Karen of Westport; two sisters, Cynthia Sylvia and her husband Kenneth of New Bedford, and Donna Parker and her husband Chris of Mattapoisett; two grandchildren, Seamus Carroll and Julianna Catunto; many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The funeral was held in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, New Bedford on Nov. 21. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5 Manley St. West Bridgewater, MA 02379.
