Land trusts work together, improve property

Nov 21, 2016

Members of the Mattapoisett and Rochester Land Trusts spent Saturday morning working on trails and cutting back vines at their co-owned Shoolman Preserve in Rochester. In addition to cutting back invasive vines, the volunteers also carried eight-foot planks and locus sleepers into the woods to assemble bog bridges on the Holly Grove trail, which opens into a holly grove where there is a spot to sit and view the Mattapoisett River. The organizations hope that the placement of the bridges will be tested by the wet weather ahead.

The land trusts wish to thank: Alice McGrath, Amy Johnson, Arthur Damaskos, Bill Taylor, Bob Lawrence, Bruce MacPhail, Calvin Payne, Don Cuddy, Maggie Payne, Mike Huguenin, Mindy LaBranche, Mo Sperry, Norene Hartley, Ozzie Osenkowski, Peter Davies, Rebecca Knutsen, Rick Chilson, Rosemary Smith, Sam Ogle, Skip Bedser, Steve Sperry, Tony Williams, Wendy Keeler and David Smith for their help.
