MATTAPOISETT —  Philanthropy, friendship and fun await at the Mattapoisett Woman’s Club.

The club is inviting women of Mattapoisett interested in learning more about club membership to a “welcome” luncheon.

The luncheon will be Thursday, Sept. 19 at 11:30 a.m. in the Mattapoisett Congregational Church’s Reynard Hall.

“Whether you are new to the area, a new mom, a stay-at-home mom, or newly retired, you are welcome to enjoy lunch and meet some fabulous women,” a press release said.

Women from surrounding communities with ties to Mattapoisett are also welcome to join.

The Mattapoisett Woman’s Club is a philanthropic organization that executes events such as “Taste of Mattapoisett” and a biennial garden tour. Those and other events fundraise to support scholarships for local high school students and financial gifts to South Coast charities.

In addition to sponsoring fundraising events, the club offers group activities for members, like garden, book, walking and mahjong groups.

“Membership is open to any woman who is interested in getting together with fun-loving women and supporting the mission of the organization,” a press release said.
