Learn a new fiber skill at the Marion Art Center

MARION — For those who have ever wanted to try weaving but were not sure where to begin, a five-week course is coming to the Marion Art Center.

Instructed by Lisa Elliott, students in “Weaving on a Rigid Heddle Loom will learn a new fiber skill and create and take home a woven project. During the class, participants will weave either a scarf, a table runner, placemats or tea towels.

The class will meet Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. between April 25 to May 23 at the Marion Art Center.

The course costs $150 for members and $160 for nonmembers. Looms and weaving equipment will be provided for a $10 fee. Participants will provide their own yarns. Register at marionartcenter.org/adult-classes.

After registering, students are asked to contact the instructor prior to the first session to discuss their project and calculate the amount of yarn needed.
