Letter to the Editor: A numerical correction from the Elizabeth Taber Statue fundraising committee

Jun 11, 2019

To the Editor,

Thank you so much for your recent article highlighting the Celebrate Elizabeth Taber statue project.  We’re excited to bring her to life!

As you noted we are actively fundraising for the project which is being funded by private citizens and groups.  However please do share this correction.  In addition to the $10,000 Tabor Academy and the $50,000 matching grant from the Sippican Historical Society that you referenced in your May 29th article, we have already raised an additional $70,000 in gifts and pledges from individuals and local businesses.  Although we are now just over $130,000, we do have a ways to go to achieve our $175,000 to $200,000 goal.  Funds raised will cover fees for the life-sized bronze statue, installation at Bicentennial Park in Marion (including landscaping and lighting), and the creation of an endowment fund at the Sippican Historical Society for annual maintenance of the statue.

The Celebrate Elizabeth Taber Statue Committee is most appreciative of the donations we have received to date.  We encourage members of our community to contribute in support of our goal to bring Elizabeth Taber home.

Sincerely,

Betsy Fallon
