Library to host Christmas, New Year events

Nov 18, 2019

MARION — In addition to its normal events, the Elizabeth Taber Library will host crafts, parties and more to celebrate Christmas and New Year’s Eve.

The library will host a Book Crafting Workshop on Dec. 3 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Jessica Harris will teach participants age 12 and up how to create art from recycled books. Harris’ art will be up at the library throughout November. Sign up for the workshop to participate.

Library staff will also hold a winter mini book sale at the library on Dec. 6 and 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The sale includes books, ornaments, and more. Librarians will also gift wrap purchased items for an additional $2. Proceeds benefit the Elizabeth Taber Library.

Harry Potter fans of all ages can create magical crafts and ornaments all day on Dec. 11 and Dec. 12.

The library will also host a Holiday Cookie Swap on Dec. 19 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Participants should bring about two dozen cookies and a recipe, and will be able to create a bag of holiday treats.  Sign up at the library for this event.

The Elizabeth Taber Library will celebrate New Year’s Eve a little early on Dec. 31, for children who might not be able to make it to midnight. Instead of counting down to midnight, the group will count down to noon, with a party from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served. Sign up at the library to participate.
