Linda Cooper, 59

Nov 11, 2013

Linda Eaton (Hunt) Cooper, 59, of Marion, passed away Saturday, Nov. 9 surrounded by her loved ones after a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis. She was the wife of Thomas M. Cooper, Sr.; they had been married for 27 years.

Born in Tampa, Fla., the daughter of Patricia (Jones) Hunt, of Marion, and the late Robert E. Hunt, she lived in Marion since 1969.

She was a longtime member of the Marion Methodist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, office assistant and treasurer.

Cooper was formerly employed as a legal secretary for various local law offices.

She was a graduate of Bristol Community College.

She loved Sunday school and the many children she taught. She was very gifted at making scrimshaw items and embroidery. Until her illness prevented her, she was quite a good classical and folk guitar player. She made Christmas for her family so special without losing the meaning of it. Besides loving her husband, children, and grandchildren, she loved her many sisters, her father and mother-in-law, and her many brothers and sisters-in-law. Her mother

Pat was her best friend and she missed her late father very much, but is now with him playing guitars together again.

The family would also like to acknowledge Melanie Walker, her personal care assistant and friend, and the staff at New Bedford Healthcare Center. Linda touched so many lives and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include her husband; her mother; three children, Jennifer Gill, of Marion, Robert Gill and his wife, Nicole, of Greenland, N.H., and Thomas M. Cooper, Jr., of Norfolk, Vir.; five sisters, Susan Duncan, of Marion, Robin Sommo, of Rochester, Joanne Hickey, of Shelburne, N.H., Judy Herman, of Owings Mills, Md., and Sarah Aanensen, of Marion; three grandchildren, Chandra Perez-Gill, Mischa Tomasia, and Owen Gill; and many nieces and nephews.

Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m. at the Acushnet-Wesley United Methodist Church, 67 Main St., Acushnet. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Road, Route 6, Mattapoisett.
