Man arrested with illegal firearms at Hillside Motel
On Monday, Mattapoisett Police announced the arrest of a 39-year-old man found in possession of stolen firearms and other property.
Shawn Oller, formerly of 19 Young Road in Falmouth had been a resident at Hillside Motel for several months, and police say he has an extensive violent criminal record.
After an investigation, police arrested Oller in his motel room on Sept. 4 on a felony arrest warrant. In his room, officers located and recovered a stolen loaded .40 caliber Smith and Wesson semi-automatic hand gun and two additional loaded magazines. According to a police statement, the serial numbers on the firearm were defaced to avoid any further tracing.
Also located in the motel room was stolen property, including various hand tools, power tools and camping equipment. Some of the property was connected to burglaries in Falmouth and Fairhaven.
Oller is being charged with possession of a loaded firearm, defacing the serial numbers on a firearm, possession of ammunition, firearm violation with three prior violent crimes and receiving stolen property exceeding $250.
This case is also under investigation by the Falmouth and Fairhaven Police Departments which will also result in additional charges for Oller, according to Mattapoisett Police.
