Marijuana not explosives found in suspicious package at Lockheed-Martin
A mysterious package at Lockheed-Martin was found to contain marijuana, but not before the bomb squad was called in.
Marion Police were called to Lockheed-Martin, located just off of Route 6, at 8:19 a.m. on Tuesday morning for a suspicious package near one of the parking areas.
According to police, a witness reported that a vehicle had pulled into the lot and a young man had left the vehicle holding a package. He placed it under a bush before leaving the area.
The area was secured and bomb squad units from the Massachusetts State Police and the United States Navy (Newport, RI) responded.
They determined the package was not an explosive but contained marijuana.
As of Tuesday afternoon, a juvenile suspect had been identified. This incident is still under investigation.
Marion Fire/EMS, Massachusetts State Police D Troop and Lockheed-Martin security assisted at the scene.
