Marion Art Center announces three summer youth programs

MARION — The Marion Art Center will be holding three programs this summer for children of different ages.

For kids ages 4 to 9, the Marion Art Center is offering “ArtStart,” a weekly program of arts and craft, theater, music, games and storytelling. The first session begins June 24 while the final session ends July 26.

The program runs from 9 a.m.to 12:30 p.m. “ArtStart” teachers are specialists in music, dance, theater and art, most of whom teach throughout the year and are professionals in their fields.

Each 5-day session is $250 for members and $290 for nonmembers, while the 4-day session that spans the week of July 4 is $200 for members and $235 for nonmembers. Visit marionartcenter.org/artstart for more information and to register.

For young artists ages 10 to 15, “All Things Art” is a weekly Monday to Friday program from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. July 29 through August 16.

During the immersive weeklong program, attendees will experiment with practices, techniques and media like drawing, sculpting, printmaking, fiber arts, clay and more. Participants will learn how to talk about art making and what inspires creative choices. Class time will be spent in the art studio and outdoors, weather permitting.

Also for kids ages 10 to 15 is “Dungeons & Dragons,” a one-week program between August 5 to 9 that meets from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The program will focus on fostering creativity, teamwork, and problem solving, while igniting s imaginations and nurturing storytelling skills. Friendships will be forged and memories created in a safe and supportive environment.
