MARION — The Marion Art Center will host a few events in the coming weeks, including its annual Halloween parade.

Halloween parade

The art center will host its annual Halloween Parade on Wednesday, Oct. 31 beginning at 4 p.m. at the Marion Music Hall.

Under the direction of Hannah Moore, the Sippican Elementary School drummers will lead the parade of witches and princesses, goblins and ghouls, wild animals, and spooky spirits.

The parade route will head south on Front Street, up Main Street, north onto Spring Street and back down Cottage to the Music Hall.

Once back at the Music Hall, the Marion Art Center will hand out a surprise goody bag.

This is a family event, and all ages are allowed to participate in the parade. 

Small Works

The Marion Art Center is calling for entries to its annual juried Small Works exhibition. 

All works must be 144 square inches or less, including the mat and frame. The art center will accept multiple works and buyers will be allowed to take works when they are purchased. 

The deadline for entries is Saturday, Nov. 3. The selected artists will be notified on Nov. 6.

To be considered, go to the Marion Art Center website and fill out the “request for jury” form.

The exhibition runs Friday, Nov. 23  to Saturday, Dec. 22. All work should be dropped off at the MAC on Monday, Nov.19 from 1 to 5 p.m. The opening reception will be on Friday, Nov. 23 from 6 to 8 p.m.

Holiday Shop

The art center will also hold a Holiday Shop, where participants can sell handmade items. The event will take place for three days and the deadline to register is Saturday, Nov. 10.
