The Marion COA has lots to do in December

MARION — From a festival of trees to a holiday stroll, the Marion Council on Aging has lots of events to keep you busy through the holiday season.

Festival of Trees
On display through Dec. 10.
Organizations, businesses, community groups and interested individuals have come together to decorate trees as part of this year’s festival.

Raffle tickets will be on sale until noon on Dec. 10 when the winners will be drawn.

Sponsored by the Friends of the Marion Council on Aging to benefit The Parks Project at the Community Center.

Ask A Doctor
Friday, Dec. 10 at 10:15 am.
When your appointments seem shorter and doctors are pushed to deal with electronic records as well as responding to your needs, you might find you do not always get your questions answered. This meeting will let you get those questions answered. You can submit anonymous questions in the box at the COA office entrance.

Sheryl Faye presents… Susan B. Anthony
Monday, Dec. 13 at 1 pm.
Susan B. Anthony was a women’s rights activist, she devoted her life to racial, gender, and educational equality.

She is one of the most famous women in American history, and played a prominent role in the women’s suffrage movement and the 19th Amendment, which gave women the right to vote. She also supported women’s labor organizations and for a woman’s right to own property.

In 2020 we celebrated not only 100 years since the ratification of the 19th Amendment, we also celebrated Susan B. Anthony’s 200th birthday.

A catered lunch of American Chop Suey with garden salad will be offered at noon, prior to the presentation. There will be limited seating for the luncheon and lecture, so reservations are a must. Call to register 508-748-3570.

A suggested donation of $5.00 is requested to cover the cost of the luncheon.

Paint Party with Lidia
Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 1 pm.
Come enjoy some time with friends and have fun while making a beautiful work of art that you will be able to take home.

The cost of the class is $20, paid in advance to hold your spot, and includes everything that you will need.

Holiday Stroll
Monday, Dec. 20 at 1 pm.
Join members of the COA as they celebrate the holiday season. The group will be strolling along the walking path to some of your favorite holiday music.

For each lap you complete you will receive a ticket to be entered into a raffle. The more you walk, the more chances you will get.

After you have completed your stroll, join us inside for cocoa and cookies and see who the lucky winners will be.

New Year’s Bingo Spectacular
Monday, Dec. 27 at noon.
Try your luck in this game of chance.

Cost to play is $5 for a standard pack of play, $1 coverall and $1 50/50 game.

Players will start the afternoon off enjoying lunch together and then proceed to the game of chance which will be interspersed with raffles.

Senior Art Show
Dec. 29 - Jan. 26
Stop by the Community Center to view the works of some of our more seasoned artists.

There will be no end to the talent filling the walls.

In addition to these special events, the COA has a host of regular scheduled programing including Tai Chi, Zoomba, soup lunches, support groups and more.
