Marion COA offers in-person activities, online, phone alternatives

Jul 25, 2020

MARION — The town’s Council on Aging will start bringing programs inside its Community Center on a limited basis, but also offers a number of online and phone-only programs for those who are uncomfortable participating in person.

The Council on Aging has been holding outdoor activities, and will begin to move programs indoors in the case of inclement weather starting Aug. 3.

Guidelines for participants have also changed. They should sign up for programs in advance by calling 508-748-3540, and confirm that they still plan to attend on the day of the activity. Programs require the use of face masks, even when participants are more than 6 feet apart.

For those who feel uncomfortable attending in person, classes can be found on Marion’s Public Service YouTube Channel. The Senior Center also has a list of classes and other resources that older adults can access by phone.

The Council on Aging will also host two more drive-in days in August. On Aug. 5 from noon to 1 p.m. seniors can visit the Senior Center to pick up a hot dog lunch.

On Aug. 19 the Senior Center will offer milk and cookies to seniors who stop by from noon to 1 p.m.
