Marion Concert band to present 'A Latin-American Festival'

The Marion Concert Band will present “A Latin-American Festival,” a concert featuring music from South America, on Friday, Aug. 22. Audience members are encouraged to wear tropical or Latin-American themed clothes for the concert.

Kevin Kane, the band’s principal trombonist since 2006, will perform solos during the concert. He is currently a faculty member at Rhode Island College, Providence College and Roger Williams University. He has performed with the Rhode Island Philharmonic, the Concordia Brass Quintet and the Narragansett Brass Quintet.

The concert, under the direction of Tobias Monte, will begin at 7 p.m. at the Robert Broomhead Bandstand at Island Wharf off Front Street. The concert is free and open to the public.
