Marion Fire Department to receive state grant

Apr 3, 2021

MARION — The Marion Fire Department will be among the departments to receive $75,897.82 through the Fiscal Year 2021 Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program.

State Sen. Marc Pacheco announced the grants on April 2, which will be split among Marion, Wareham, Raynham Berkley, Carver and Dighton.

“I am very pleased that local fire departments in Berkley, Carver, Dighton, Marion, Raynham, and Wareham will be receiving over $75,000 to help keep firefighters safe in the line of duty,” Pacheco said. “During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and beyond, firefighters and first responders have worked incredibly hard to help protect the residents of the local communities I represent. The critical resources awarded today will help do the same for local firefighters and emergency personnel by providing them with safer, more effective equipment in the line of duty.”

The Firefighter Safety Equipment Grant Program is a statewide funding initiative authorized by legislation enacted by the Senate last summer.
