Marion fire responds to capsized boat

MARION — The Marion Fire Department responded to an overturned boat with six fishermen in the water in the Hog Island Channel Sunday morning.

According to the department’s Facebook page, Marion boat M225 arrived at the scene and took three fishermen back to shore, where they were seen by emergency personnel. The other three fishermen were taken to shore by Canal Patrol.

The fishermen were in the water for approximately 10 minutes before being rescued.

The Marion Fire Department urges all boaters to be prepared for capsizing and wear lifejackets at all times.
