Marion Fire sounds the alarm for safety at open house
Oct 5, 2014
Marion firefighters kicked off National Fire Prevention Week by opening their doors to the community on Sunday afternoon.
Kids got the opportunity to explore the department’s ambulances and trucks inside and out. Firefighters opened a ladder truck to the public who got a birds eye view of Marion from the truck’s bucket.
Firefighter and event organizer Jodi Auld said the open house is one of three events the department has planned for the week. Auld will visit Sippican School students later in the week, and for the first time, the department will host a fire safety session for adults.
That seminar is set for Thursday, Oct. 9 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Sippican School auditorium. Home hazards, electrical and generator safety will be discussed.
