MARION — Firefighters from five towns responded to a fire on Quails Crossing Road on Oct. 26. One person in the house was transported to the hospital for possible smoke inhalation.

The Marion Fire Department received a call about smoke in the area and found smoke coming from one of the windows when Assistant Fire Chief Allen Denham arrived at the scene.

Denham and others performed an interior and exterior check of the house and located a person inside.

He requested assistance from the Marion Police, and from Fire Departments in Rochester, Mattapoisett, Wareham to handle the fire, while Onset Fire Department covered the station. 

The state fire martial is still working to determine the cause of the fire.
