Marion looks for feedback on hazard mitigation plan

Sep 7, 2021

MARION — The Town’s Multi-Hazard Mitigation plan is now available for review and comment.

The Marion Hazard Mitigation Planning team partnered with the Woods Hole Group to develop the plan, which identifies impacts of climate change and natural hazards on residents, buildings, and infrastructure.

In the plan, risks associated with the impacts are identified and evaluated, and mitigation actions that focus resources on the greatest risk areas are developed.

The plan aims to document the mitigation items and integrate the necessary actions into the town’s future planning and budgeting in order to protect residents and infrastructure.

The planning team encourages all residents to review the mitigation plan, available under the news tab on marionma.gov.

Questions and comments relating to the Plan can be sent via email to Engineering Manager Meghan Davis at mdavis@marionma.gov. The public comment period will end Sept. 17 at 3 p.m. Any public comments received after that time will not be considered.

In addition, the planning team will hold a public hearing on Thursday, Sept. 9, at 6 p.m. via Zoom. This is an opportunity for the public to learn about the Plan, participate, and offer comments and recommendations during the final draft stage and prior to submittal to MEMA and FEMA for final approval.

Please refer to the meeting agenda on the Town of Marion website for access to the zoom meeting.
