Marion plans to honor its veterans

MARION — The Annual Marion Veterans Day Ceremony will be held in the Sippican School Multipurpose Room on Monday, Nov. 11 at 11 a.m.

Participants should enter the school through the bus loop on Park Street. 

The guest speaker this year is Commander Jesse McFadden. A native of Marion, McFadden graduated from the United States Naval Academy in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in political science.  He earned his wings of gold in 2003, and went on to serve as a career naval helicopter pilot, accumulating more than 2,600 hours, before receiving a Masters of Arts in leadership studies from Marshall University in 2015.  His awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal, three Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals, two Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, and various unit and campaign decorations.

The Sippican School Band and its director Hannah Moore will also perform patriotic music.
