Marion Police step up speed enforcement

Jun 20, 2012

Speed demons watch out.

The Marion Police Department is heightening its speed limit enforcement in town to deal with an increased number of complaints, said Chief Lincoln Miller.

“Around this time of year, the number of people speeding has stepped up,” Miller said. “So far, we have received twice the amount of complaints.”

A lot of the stops, he said, occur in the Village. The increase in enforcement is to protect both the pedestrians and the drivers themselves, Miller said.

“It’s about educating the public about speeding and safety,” he said.

“We don’t want to have a number of people speeding in the center of town with all of the people down there. So, we’ll be out there.”
