Marion receives more state money for road improvement

Jan 21, 2015

Marion streets are about to get an $80,000 upgrade courtesy of Chapter 90 state transportation money released by Gov. Charlie Baker.

The recently elected governor told cities and towns that he has released the final $100 million of the $300 million in Chapter 90 transportation funds approved last year.

According to Town Administrator Paul Dawson, Marion’s share of the funds jumped from $171,639 to $257,458.

“As you know, these funds are used for a myriad of projects, including pavement management plans and other projects along the way,” Dawson said. “So this is very good news for the work we’re trying to do. Kudos to the Governor Baker on this.”

On Jan. 8, Baker released a press release that said the additional Chapter 90 funds would help drive job creation, public safety and economic growth.
