Marion receives two state grants for town improvements
MARION — The Town of Marion received two Community Compact Grants totaling $50,000 to modernize the town’s website and to develop employee policies.
The Town of Marion received the funding as part of a Community Compact Grant, which is a state grant program administered by the State Division of Local Services.
The first Community Compact Grant, in the amount of $35,000, will be used to fund the creation of a modernized town website with improved capabilities and functionalities, including Americans with Disabilities Act compliance.
The second Community Compact Gant, in the amount of $15,000, will be used to fund the development of Employee Policies and Procedures. Marion will review and update current policies and procedures and procure an outside firm to assist in the process.
“We look forward to creating a new town website that will be easily accessible as well as conducting a complete review and update of our Employee Policies and Procedures. These projects are both part of our service enhancement initiatives for Town residents and visitors.” said Marion Town Administrator Geoff Gorman. "These projects are also an integral part of meeting the Town’s 2024 Strategic Goals, and we are grateful to the Commonwealth for awarding us these grants to move forward with this work."
The Community Compact Grant was created in the early days of the Baker-Polito Administration and has now been continued by Governor Maura Healey. It is open to all 351 municipalities and provides direct assistance in achieving “best practices” via grants for consulting services.
