Marion resident Derryl P. Lawrence, Jr. graduated from the Massachusetts State Police Academy on Friday.

Lawrence was one of the 56 members of the State Police Municipal Academy Class 4 to graduate after 22 weeks of training.

Earlier this month, the Selectmen appointed Lawrence as a full-time officer with the Marion Police Department.

Of Lawrence, Police Chief Lincoln Miller said, "He's an asset to the department."

Previously, Lawrence worked as Assistant Harbormaster in Plymouth.
