The Marion Board of Selectmen approved a proposal from the Cemetery Commissioners to institute a $200 “perpetual care” fee at Tuesday night's meeting.

The way the cemetery is currently being run is unsustainable, according to the commissioners, and starting July 1, there will be a $200 fee per grave to help create a fund for cemetery care and maintenance.

The commissioners said that while Marion has never collected this fee before, just about every other cemetery in the Commonwealth does.
