Marion selectmen hold emergency meeting
Shortly after the Marion Board of Selectmen met for an emergency session June 30, a landscaping project surrounding the Robert Broomhead Bandstand was approved.
Paperwork for the plan had been stuck in what Town Administrator Paul Dawson called “an organizing snafu.” A landscaping crew had arrived the day before to begin work, but Dawson had to dismiss them, as the Board had not approved the plan. The Sippican Historical Society provided funds for the project, but because the land is town property, Board permission was necessary.

The Board also approved a letter of support for the town’s application of a Buzzards Bay National Estuary Program’s mini-grant. Such a letter is not required, but is recommended. If selected, the town can get technical assistance to protect and restore water quality and living resources in the area.
